Leighton Meester has developed over the last six years into one of the most down to earth, fashionable and talented actresses in Hollywood. However being mainly on Gossip Girl, not everybody knows who she is or what’s so great about her. Well, there are plenty of reasons to love Miss Meester.
She can sing
You know how some actresses try to be singers, but they’re not particularly good at it, and sell records because the fans will follow them anywhere? Leighton can actually sing. Her voice is pretty stunning, and easy to listen to over a FoxyBingo game or while you check her out on Twitter. Oh and she happens to play the guitar as well.
Hair
She gained a hair appreciation following when she was cast in Gossip Girl as Blair Waldorf. Her wavy long curls prompted millions of fans to grow their hair and style it the same way for the last six years. Having recently finished filming her last season of Gossip Girl though, Leighton has chopped her hair into a short bob, which also suits her, proving that some women can go either way and still look stunning. Jealous.
Hollywood Glamour
She seemed to master the art of Hollywood glamour not long after she became the apple of the media’s eye. In fact she seemed to have it down pat beforehand, and has very rarely gone wrong, with her sophisticated choices which both flatter and leave plenty to the imagination. Her style has only blossomed over time, and she’s considered a style icon.
Her personality
A bubbly person in real life, she’s a genuine sweetheart who gets on well with her co-stars. Also unlike her character in Gossip Girl, she seems a lot more mature when it comes to gossiping. She said herself that she tries not to let gossip effect her real life, and lets negativity roll off her back. Although she’s happy to take a compliment when it’s offered.

Leighton Meester has been to the top of the Empire state Building twice—once to the walled-in tourists-only Observation Deck, and once to the very, very top, where, she reports, there are these really low ledges, and you just stand there and take in the view while holding on to hooks.
“You mean: You, the sky and give or take 1,250 feet between your head and the pavement?” I ask.
“It’s unbelievable!” she insists.

It’s going to be a sad day when Gossip Girl wraps its final episode, but it sounds like the cast is more excited than not about moving on.
Even before the CW officially announced G.G. would close shop after next season, Chace Crawford told us he had already started making plans to move Los Angeles.
And now Leighton Meester is also filling us in on how she really feels about saying goodbye to Blair Waldrof…
“It’s bittersweet,” Meester, 26, told me at the MTV Movie Awards, where she presented with her That’s My Boy costars Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler. “That the perfect word for it.”
She says the cast and crew have become like family.
“But at the same time, it’s great to move on and do something different,” she explained. “Playing the same character for six years is great, but it’s exciting to do other things and also just sleeping and spending time with my family.”
And no, no one is jumping to do a Gossip Girl movie. “I’ve never heard anything from producers or from anyone involved with Gossip Girl,” she said. “I only hear about it when I’m asked about it in interviews.”
Guilty, as charged!
In the meantime, Meester continues pursuing her music career with plans to release some new tunes by the end of this month or next via free digital downloads. “I want to release an album by the end of the year,” she said. “I probably have 20 songs ready but will release an album with 10 or 11.”

This time next year, we’ll be saying goodbye to our favorite (and not-so-favorite) characters of Gossip Girl as they wrap up this seasons-long chapter of their lives. But for their real-life counterparts, that chapter is already nearly closed as the actors move full steam ahead into a future beyond the designer-clad world of the Upper East Side.
One of the show’s biggest stars, Leighton Meester, has already made a big geographical switch — from New York to Los Angeles — to commit more time to her other passion: music. “It kind of already feels like it’s coming to an end now because I’m basically living in another place and moving on to something else,” says the woman behind the fiery Blair Waldorf in an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment. That “something else” has led to her first tour (five shows on the west coast, which kicks off May 29) with band and longtime pals Check in the Dark, whom she calls her “musical soul mates.”
We may be nearing the end of our love affair with GG, but if it’s any consolation, Leighton is prepared to give us the sweetest breakup song ever. Read on for more of Wetpaint’s interview with Leighton HERE.

On Friday, April 27, luxury jeweler Harry Winston is set to open its largest global flagship in Shanghai, a sprawling 5,800 square meter space in the city’s plush Xintiandi neighborhood. Outfitted with two main halls and stocking fine jewelry, wedding jewelry and a range of watches, the store at 188 Tai Cang Road serves not only as brand’s first flagship in China, but a very lavish anchor for greater expansion efforts in the country. Currently, Harry Winston operates only two boutiques in China, one at the Peninsula in Beijing and another at Shanghai’s Peninsula Hotel, but starting with the new Xintiandi flagship, the jeweler plans to open several new locations in the country as part of its plan to open 50 new flagship stores worldwide by 2016.
While opening its largest store in the world in Shanghai should be buzz-worthy enough, Harry Winston will invite “Gossip Girl” stars Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick to cut the ribbon at the grand opening. Owing to the show’s massive popularity in China, word of Meester and Westwick’s planned appearance at the flagship event and photos of Meester with fans have torn through Weibo, indicating that the Chinese Twitter-like platform — and “Gossip Girl” tie-ins — may become even more of a linchpin of Harry Winston’s marketing strategy in China. We’ll have to wait and see whether Harry Winston links up in some way with China’s own version of “Gossip Girl,” which is expected to launch this November under the title “China Girl.”
Also in celebration of the new flagship opening, Harry Winston will show off its collaboration with the Chinese designer Judy Hua (previously on Jing Daily), an exhibition of 14 priceless pieces of diamond-studded jewelry paired with selections from Hua’s new collection. After the Shanghai grand opening, Hua’s designs will be shown on Harry Winston’s global tour at other flagships worldwide.
